What we Do

Girlhood Empowerment

Lifelong Support and Opportunities

Our program areas reflect the priorities and needs of girls across their life cycle, leveraging cross-sector expertise within our organization. We focus our work on specific areas, like early childhood marriages, wellness programs, quality of health care particularly sexual and reproductive health, networking and mentoring among others.

Empowering Minds

Educational Endeavors at UMCOW

Nurturing intellect and faith, our educational initiatives at the Uganda Muslim Community of Washington ignite a passion for learning. Join us on a journey of growth, where minds are empowered to shape a brighter future in harmony with Islamic values and knowledge.

Ramadan Reflections

Empowering Lives Through Reflection and Renewal

Experience Ramadan like never before with our empowering reflections. Discover renewed purpose, embrace diversity, and nurture spiritual connections as we craft meaningful moments and build lasting bonds together.

Masjid Construction

We Build Mosques

Your support is not just a contribution to bricks and mortar; it's a pledge to shape the heartbeats of a community, creating spaces where prayers echo, and souls find sanctuary. Together, let's build more than structures – let's build connections, foster harmony, and weave a tapestry of shared devotion.

Your Qurbani

“That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days over what He has provided for them of cattle. So eat of them and feed the poor.”
– The Holy Qur’an, 22:28

The first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah are the most sacred days of the year, loved by Allah (SWT). By giving to Islamic Relief, you can reap the rewards of this blessed month and serve those in need. Not only do you fulfill the charitable obligations Allah has set for us, but you also help relieve some of the burden that struggling families face.

Vital Wellness

Promoting Health at UMCOW

Dedicated to the well-being of our community, 'Vital Wellness' at the Uganda Muslim Community of Washington champions a holistic approach to health. Through education and support, we strive to cultivate a culture of well-being, fostering physical, mental, and spiritual harmony for all.

AquaCare

SUPPORTING WATER SUPPLY

Water shortage is a worldwide problem for populations as well as agriculture in remote areas. UMCOW helps to support the growing need for water supply by digging boreholes and wells in rural areas
